Tiina Tammetalu

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

Tiina Tammetalu (s. 1961) graduated from Tartu Art School in the field of fine arts and graphic design in 1980 and continued her studies at the Estonian State Art Institute in the field of painting, receiving her diploma in 1989. She has also studied interdisciplinary Arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts.


Tammetalu is active in all visual fields covered by her academic studies. As a painter, her works are characterised by large formats and powerful images. She is the author of a conceptual signature series “Estonian Landscape“ (painting, installation and environment). As a curator, she has established a platform titled “Imaginary Museum“, in the context of which she has curated and organised various exhibitions since 2001 (Baltic BookFair 2001).
