Still Life with Apples, 2016

180 x 142 cm

Oil on canvas

Akvilė Poškutė is naturally drawn into further researching the extent of the content and the possibilities of plastic art of the still life genre. As a motif for her paintings, she chose logs and apples, something she feels familiar and comfortable with since her childhood. The main focus is on the light, rhythmic structures and the sense of the material. There is always some sort of transformation during the process, as author intuitively chooses to “catch” certain traits of the material: the texture, the roughness, the aroma, the warmth and the moisture. Poškutė finds postimpressionistic approach to still life quite close to her heart. It is important to her to capture the still and being in the present.
