Leena Saarinen

Artist's country of origin: Finland

Leena Saarinen (b. 1988) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. Her practice is multidisciplinary, process oriented and research based. In her work she studies culture, language and the relationship between human and non-human species. Her work has been shown in solo, duo and group exhibitions Finland and abroad. Among those places are Trøndelag Center for Contemporary Art in Trondheim, Galleri Taxi in Bergen, Finnish Museum of Photography in Helsinki, Kunsthalle Seinäjoki in Finland, Kuva/Tila in Helsinki, Nordic House in Reykjavik, Exhibition Laboratory in Helsinki, Oksasenkatu 11 in Helsinki and Oslo Graphic Barceloneta in Barcelona.


She is a co-founder and member of artist collective RAATO. She is currently studying in the University of the Arts Helsinki, Academy of Fine Arts, in the sculpture department. She has done previous studies in University of Bergen at Faculty of Fine Art, Iceland University of the Arts, Pekka Halonen Academy and Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture.
