Brenda Purtsak

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

Brenda Purtsak (born 1994) is an Estonian artist who mainly works in Tallinn. She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a masters degree in Contemporary Art (2022) and bachelors degree in painting (2020).

At the center of her art practice is the biological body, with which she plays on the border of abstraction. Using such a form of a human being, she can deal with topics related to life. For self-expression, Purtsak mostly uses painting medium on different materials such as canvas, plaster or wood. In her practice, she also works with stained glass and text mediums.

She has participated in various exhibitions, such as “Pretence” at EKA gallery (curated by Holger Loodus) and “A Visitor” at Hobusepea gallery. Currently, her paintings and stained glass pieces are exhibited in the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in the Netherlands (curated by Aleksander Metsamärt).
