Rein Mägar (1944) is an Estonian watercolour artist. He studied at the Estonian National Institute of Art and Leipzig Institute of Book Design. In addition to his work as an artistic editor at various publishing houses, he has also designed numerous posters and books. Mägar started making watercolours more actively in the second half of the 1990s. The predominant theme in his work is landscapes and sea motifs; in recent years these have been added by figures and portraits. His published books include A Journey in Watercolours (2014) and Estonian Watercolour 2018 (2018). His most recent solo exhibition Facial Recognition took place at Draakoni Gallery in 2020.
