(D)EFFECTS, 2020

999 x 999 cm

Environment + Photography + Sound effects (D)EFFECTS is a story about the possibility to see a special message in every object and detail, as long as we delve into it. In this work, defects are transformed into sound effects, revealing the nature of a particular place in the form of sound. In the rushing everyday life of our era, people rarely pay attention to insignificant details and rarely care about what is essential in these details. This work is a reminder that we can see a message (information) in every detail, even in defects that have occurred over time, with the interaction between the environment and man-made objects. This project is the story of the environment and its interaction with man-made objects (building, facade, fence, wall, etc.). It is based on watching and immersing, which creates a unique sensation and allows to capture the message which is carried by the object and its environment. The information is expressed as an abstract and elusive sound that reveals the sense of the particular, visible space in the picture. It is a reminder that in every case we can see, even hear more, if we contemplate it, allowing the imagination and interpretation of the origins, meanings, and nature of the various things to evolve. In this project visual perception is connected with the audial perception, indicating that everything is relative – we can attribute a certain sound to any shape, colour, object and vice versa. Any sound can have the appropriate shape, colour, and meaning. This meaning is revealed in the overall interpretation of sound and image.
