“Against the Tragic Wall” by artists Artūrs Virtmanis and Daniela Vētras will take place in the large hall of the exhibition hall “Riga Art Space”, which will result in an impressive exhibition with newly created art objects.

The performance of both world-renowned and acclaimed artists will herald the seemingly opposite impulses that form cycles of creation and destruction, both on the individual’s deeply personal, existential level and in external interactions with society as a whole. Inspired by Martin Luther King’s legendary speech on the centenary of the abolition of slavery in 1963, the central motif of this performance and exhibition will be its quote “I have a dream”, which transforms from a visually impressive, dynamic performance process into a graphic, entropy installation that will later be seen in the exhibition with documentation of the course of this performance. The performance will consist of elements worthy of a show and farce with a good dose of irony, as well as unpredictable and physically heavy repetitive action, in which gender roles will change and the object with the action will become a mirror of society. The performance will be created by installation artist Artūrs Virtmanis, Daniela Vētra, musician Linards Kalniņš, as well as DJ Monsta and Oliver Veldre, a student of the Riga Dome Choir School.
