The goal of this new competition, held for the first time in 2016, is to identify and acknowledge the young talents in Fine Arts from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and support them in starting their careers as professional artists.
The competition is organised by the Art Academy of Latvia, Estonian Academy of Arts, Vilnius Art Academy, NOAR.eu contemporary art platform and Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation, which was founded by the ABLV Charitable Foundation and the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation. The collaboration is based on a shared understanding that bringing together the emerging talents from all participating countries adds value to our common art field at large. The works participating in the graduation shows will be made visible to wider audiences internationally via a shared online platform balticyoungartistaward.eu
The winner of the competition, selected by an international jury, is awarded a monetary prize of 2000 €, given out by the strategic partner of the competition, Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation. Additionally, a prize of 500 € is awarded by the Foundation to the winner of the online public voting, in the context of which wider audiences from all countries can view the artworks and choose their favorites.
