The artwork is a portrait of two young lovers, Boy and Girl from the vintage movie “Varastati Vana Toomas” (Rein Aedma and Ülle Koni).

The artist´s comment on the artwork: “Honestly, I have never been to Estonia. But I have a nice memories from my early childhood about this good musical movie. I associate it with Estonia, old Tallinn, with positive musical people living in Estonia. Also I associate the movie characters with my childhood and youth, first love and about all the material we need for happiness is inside of us. I associate the movie characters with my childhood and youth, first love and knowing that all the material that we need for happiness is inside of us.”


The artwork is participating in MyEstonia? competition
'My Estonia?' calls for reflections on Estonia through the eyes of foreigners. For some participants, Estonia might be a chapter of their lives, for others it may evoke more arbitrary associations or Malevich “Black Square” type of interpretations - all in all, the competition looks for a wide array of playful approaches.
