Reptilia ll, 2021
oil on canvas
The paintings from 2021 graduation show is an attempt to reimagine the whole. Researching the structures and patterns of some of the oldest living animal species – their skin structures – I let myself to rearrange them on the canvas. These animals have lived for so long, they must be perfectly adapted, unlike me. The fantastically organized morphological rhythms of the specific lizard and crocodile specimens is an example of how biological patterns form. It seems as if there’s a perfect formation algorithm in nature that I as a human cannot crack and repeat. The nature is unapologetic and I don’t judge it’s mistakes. Yet why can’t I forgive my own?
