Artist Edgars Ošs lives and works in Riga, Latvia. Art Education was obtained at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Secondary Art School there also gaining first experience in sculpture. After graduating from art school it was natural to continue studies at the Art Academy of Latvia in the sculpture department. Countless hours were spent in sculpture workshops, observing the professional skills from experienced masters. The artist is demanding and feels great responsibility in performing the tasks and the acquired skills and knowledge give him confidence and freedom in creative expressions and technical processes. During studies in Art academy there was also a passion for the study of historical architecture and restoration works. Working with Art Nouveau architecture, the artist has fallen in love with the decorative elements of cast iron and often uses this material in his sculptures as well. With the visual language of classical sculptural materials, the artist reflects on socially relevant topics in his works, often ironically about the nonsense of the era.
