Leena Saarinen

Leena Saarinen (b. 1988) is a visual artist who lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. Her practice is multidisciplinary and research based. She works with questions of posthumanism in the age of climate change and mass extinctions. In her work she studies culture, language and the relationship between human and non-human species. Her artworks have been exhibited in galleries, museums and public spaces in Finland and abroad. Among those places are Nordic House in Reykjavik, Exhibition Laboratory in Helsinki, Oslo Graphic Barceloneta in Barcelona and Design Museum in Helsinki. She is also a co-founder and member of artist collective RAATO. She is currently studying in the University of the Arts Helsinki, Academy of Fine Arts, in the sculpture department. She participated in the BFA exhibition in Exhibition laboratory in autumn 2020. She has also done previous studies in Iceland University of the Arts, Pekka Halonen Academy and Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture.
