"Reflections" consists of a series of paintings that are predominantly the creations of the artists works from 2019. Both oil and acrylic paints are used. As always, the protagonist of the series is the woman, her heartbeats and aches.

But what kind of fragments does this one character consist of, how many pieces does she split into, or what are the right and wrong pictures? If it is true that what I see and experience around me is a direct reflection of the world within me, then it should all be a direct reference to self-understanding and the rise of awareness. Still, one may not always fathom the mirror image, nonetheless, as an allusion it reflects an odd combination of the viewers choices, values and disarrayed beliefs anyway. Communicating with one reflection, one can sense new perspectives rising from all thoughts, which open the gates again to the next reflections. May they then be beautiful, ugly, maybe both – just like you.

Anna Kõuhkna is a freelance artist and art teacher. “Reflections” is the artist’s sixth solo exhibition. The main medium used by Kõuhkna are painting and photography. She has graduated with a BA in Art from BFM, studied at Tartu Higher Art School and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the EAA / TU Joint Art Education Program. The exhibition will remain open until 15.01.2020.
